A woman made hockey history today, playing practice goalie for the Montreal Canadiens.
Kim St. Pierre, the Women’s Canadian National team’s goalie, was called up today to play with the Habs when Carey Price reported with the flu, says the Canadian Press.
Kim was only the second woman to play alongside the men in the NHL, the first being Manon Rheaume, who played goal for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 1992 preseason game and the Boston Bruins in a 1993 preseason game.
Her reaction? The experience was “priceless.”
Manon Rheaume and Kim St.Pierre.. the NHL’s glass ceiling may be cracked now.
